For the base, New Balance takes inspiration from the rugged landscape of the Scottish islands of the Outer Hebrides, by specifically using this elegant Harris tweed. Other details then push the New Balance 991 further into the spotlight.
Navy blue, brown, and white make up the premium Harris Tweed base, which is incorporated into the collar, midsection, and toebox. A rich chocolate brown covers the soft leather, giving the sneaker a British touch, while the overlays are made of nubuck.
