The adidas Alphaedge 4D gets a Reflective Update
The adidas 3D-printed sole is still an unmistakable feature of the Herzogenaurach-based brand today. The 4D line will soon be expanded with two new iconic black and white sneakers featuring reflective uppers.
The adidas oxygen and light midsole was first launched over two years ago. At the time, Carbon was the new company that gave adidas its much-needed boost. With its Digital Light Synthesis™ technology, the Silicon Valley team succeeded in its joint venture.
"We are proud to have launched a FUTURECRAFT concept within two years. ADIDAS 4D marks a change in the way we design and manufacture our products. With the support of our partner Carbon, we have demonstrated the possibilities of data-driven design and digital manufacturing on a global scale. The next iteration of the technology will be to develop how it can be used to make shoes that are tailored to specific sports and even individual athletes," said Marco Kormann, Director Platform Innovation, adidas.
For years, the two brands have collected data from multiple athletes and consumers so that they can translate this information into an end result that brings about a novel sole for that tangible, futuristic feel.
The new version of the adidas 4D is an Alphaedge with a reflective upper that puts the sneakers in a whole new light. The Forgefiber Primeknit material is super light and features a sock-like feel that provides optimum comfort and solid support. Forgefiber is a TPU-coated yarn that is extremely durable and adjusts to every sharp curve and movement.
