Nike Blazer Mid Vintage 77 The New Way

When you talk about classics, the Nike Blazer belongs way up front. It is definitely one of the sneakers with an extremely long history. Lately, the Blazer has also been the canvas for some great collabs, most notably with Virgil Abloh's Off-White label.

For many sneakerheads, the Blazer was THE daily beater this year. It is in fact an excellent classic, which fits very well in today's time. This is one of the reasons why Nike has numerous new editions of the 1977 classic to offer this year.

2019 was a big year for vintage sneakers. With many new colourways and some very popular collabs, the style was made "cool" again. In 2020, Nike has many more releases in stock.

If there is one thing that Nike loves, it is experimentation. Whether it’s new colour mixes, materials, or crazy collabs with brands or stars, Nike is always trying something new, which is also the case for the entire sneaker community. One of the biggest trends in 2020 is definitely the "wear-away" feature that the Beavertoner has introduced in many different styles. But we haven't seen this feature pn the Blazer yet — until now.

"Wear-away" means "to be carried away", where some parts of the shoe consist of materials or colours that will wear away over time and eventually reveal a new layer underneath, usually in a different colour that is hidden. With this particularly clean Blazer, the white Swoosh, for example, can turn into a blue-coloured Swoosh over time. Whether you help speed this up or not is entirely up to you. 🙂

Vintage is definitely popular once again! The first releases of the Mid Vintage 77 were a complete success. However, it is still unclear where exactly the shoe will be released. But it will probably be a release at several different retailers.
