Getting into the spirit of summer, New Balance has now dropped a quite refreshing 990v5 that seems to be inspired by a popsicle. Hailing from Boston, the sneaker sheds its monochromatic paint job and now dives into the colourful world with bright blue and red accents.

New Balance hasn't named a theme for this 990v5 colourway, but fans are placing the sneaker alongside the ice cream flavour "Firecracker". Like the frozen popsicle, the sneakers feature a colourway with red, white, and blue overlays. At the front end, the toebox is dipped in a bold red and then set off on blue heels.

Somewhere in between, the two colours are then lost, with a bright "N" logo with a red outline joining the sides back together. Materials chosen include lightweight mesh as a base, which has been colour matched, and buttery soft suede.

In some regions, the new New Balance 990v5 has already been released. But we hope other retailers will follow suit and add the sneaker to their assortment.
