Los Angeles Seized Nearly 15,000 Fake Nikes

According to the papers, there should have been "napkins" in the said containers. When they opened them, they found almost 15,000 fake Nike sneakers. Among them were grails like the Off-White x Air Jordan 1 and other well-hyped sneakers. In total, there were 14,806 fakes found with an estimated sales value of 2.24 million US dollars.
"Counterfeit brand shoes are a million-dollar criminal industry," said LaFonda Sutton-Burke, port director of LA / Long Beach. "Trading these items is extremely lucrative and is becoming more profitable in markets with successful and popular products. The U.S. Department of Customs and Border Protection also links the illegal trade in goods with the smuggling and financing of criminal operations.”
