Update 08.03.2022

The Nike Air Max 90 is one of the most sought-after silhouettes with visible Air Max cushioning. So it only makes sense that a matching option is added to the Nike "Tortoiseshell" pack. The Nike Air Max 90 "Tortoiseshell" forgoes the super colourful hits of yesteryear and instead goes with various shades of off-white. In between, the leopard-like pattern comes into play and characteristic mudguards along the profiles strongly deviate from the rest.

The release of the Nike Air Max 90 "Tortoiseshell" arrived much later due to delivery delays, but now the sneaker is online at nike.com. You can find the link and more pictures here.

You can also check out the latest and most innovative styles from Nike, which are only offered as part of the Nike's Membership Program.

Nike closes the year 2021 with great sneakers. The latest releases included, for example, the Air Jordan 1 High OG "Bred Patent", Nike SB Dunk High "Medium Grey" or the Nike Dunk Low "Winter Solstice". Sneakerheads waited anxiously in front of their smartphones for these drops to be the fastest at checkout, because the Nike sneakers were in high demand and sold out after only a few seconds.

Nevertheless, no one should hang their heads. After all, in 2022, the sporting goods manufacturer will be releasing more great shoes. Besides some inline releases and collabs, the Beaverton-based brand has also designed the first packs. Among the first multi-part collections is this Nike "Tortoiseshell" Pack, which consists of a Nike Air Force 1 Fontanka, Air Huarache and Air Max 90.

Even if it's not about the colourway, the Nike Air Force 1 Fontanka and Nike Air Huarache are already very interesting on their own because of  their shape. They offer a versatile look that can be combined with multiple styles. Now, the pairs receive a turtle shell-inspired colourway.

Here's How a Tortoiseshell Inspires Nike's New Pack

From a distance, the contrasting elements of the Nike Air Force 1 Fontanka "Tortoiseshell" look very over-the-top, but the bright hues really tone down the look. The mudguard and double eyestays, which feature offset overlays, play a very important role. The light shade takes up most of the space, while grey suede creates a slight transition to the coloured heels and swooshes.

Orange heels and brown leather applications, which are also used along the eyestays, are then reminiscent of the turtle shell. The same colour play is used on the Swooshes and heel tabs. Finally, grey React blocks on the midsoles, which match the colour of the middle suede panels, complete the design of the Nike Air Force 1 Fontanka "Tortoiseshell".

Even though the Nike Air Huarache "Tortoiseshell" is part of the pack, the look makes a different impression on us. The titular pattern clearly takes the lead here on the overlays. The overlay panel in the centre is covered in a tortoise shell fabric, while the large strap at the back is bright orange.

Nike tongue logos then pick up the colours again, while the neoprene and suede are all white. The white laces feature an orange and brown zig-zag pattern that matches the sneaker's shell-coloured design element.

Technical Details

Both the retro classic, the Nike Air Huarache, and the new Nike Air Force 1 Fontanka look modern in the "Tortoiseshell" colourway. But there are also the technical details that make the sneakers perfect. The former offers an optimal fit as well as soft Air cushioning. Light neoprene then reduces the weight to further increase comfort.

Those who perhaps like it a little more robust reach for the other pair. Designed for women, the Nike Air Force 1 Fontanka is an upgraded AF1 with React cushioning. Additional patches then reinforce the deconstructed look, but have no effect on the technology.

Conclusion on the Nike "Tortoiseshell" Pack

Finally another collection that uses a pattern! We like the change from the monotonous colourways that the Nike "Tortoiseshell" Pack brings. Unfortunately, release dates have not been set yet, but the sneakers are expected to drop sometime in February 2022. Also check our release calendar or the Grailify app for more updates.
