2021 is filled with numerous comebacks. Nike has not only released many old colourways, but also made a handful of old silhouettes modern again. Fans of the classic Nike Air Huarache, in particular, have been lucky, as the silhouette has popped up in countless colourways. More iterations are already in the queue, but here we take a look at three colourways that have already been released and clear up some unanswered questions in advance.

Have you actually wondered why the Nike Air Huarache is appearing so frequently, especially in 2021? That is because the silhouette designed by Tinker Hatfield turns an incredible 30 years old this year. Of course, the anniversary has to be celebrated in a big way with several colourways that are distributed throughout the year.

The OG of all OGs started on March 12th, 2021 in the legendary "Scream Green" colourway, followed by the two Stüssy variants in April. This was then followed by more OG styles from 1991, with the Nike Air Huarache "SNKRS Day" culminating in the anniversary on August 8th.

Style - Still Unchanged after 30 Years

Nike Air Huarache "Magenta"

It's the OG styles from 1991 that are currently being released. Nike keeps its hands off the shape and materials and honours the birthday with some coveted colourways. Of course, the all-time classic Nike Air Huarache "Magenta" can't be missing. Hatfield took inspiration from water sports like wakeboarding and jet skiing for the colour and material selection.

The "Magenta" uses a neon green neoprene base, while the other elements made of nylon or leather are dipped in white or cream. The other overlays, as well as the tongues, look much more vibrant in magenta. The heel cages are in neon green and black, while the eye-catching Air Huarache emblem on the tongues docks with the base in colour.

Nike Air Huarache "Triple White"

Where there are vibrant colourways, the clean version is usually not far away. Suitably dressed for summer, the Nike Air Huarache takes on the uncomplicated "Triple White" colourway. Neoprene on the upper, breathable nylon on the front half, and the leather overlays are all in white. The heel cage and the soles do not deviate in colour for a clean look.

Nike Air Huarache "Triple Black"

The Nike Air Huarache "Triple Black" does not look more lively, but more exciting. Nike announced this version shortly after the drop of the Stüssy sneakers in April. They are the counterpart to the Nike Air Huarache "Triple White". The entire upper half made of neoprene, nylon, and leather is completely black to meet the requirements of a stealthy colourway. The soles and rubberised heel straps are also marked in black, with the heel tabs contrasting a little with the slight transparency.

'90s Look Meets Modern Technology

Even back in the day, the Nike Air Huarache was very popular. The sneakers were designed for a perfect fit and comfortable wear, and after 30 years, we can still feel it. At the bottom, a lightweight Air sole cushions your steps for long and lasting comfort, and the upper provides an airy feel, thanks to the neoprene-like material. As soon as you put the shoe on, you quickly notice that the inner shoe stretches with your foot for a custom fit. It's a feeling you won't want to miss.

Conclusion of the Nike Air Huarache "Magenta", "Triple White", and "Triple Black

The Nike Air Huarache is one of the best retro sneakers Tinker Hatfield has ever designed. On-feet, the shoes feel incredible, and the lightweight Air sole completes the overall package perfectly. Watch out for shoe sizes, though, because the Air Huaraches fit differently due to the narrow shape. If you have wide feet, you should take a whole size larger, and if you have narrow feet, half a size larger. The three colourways are now available online at Nike and in several sizes for 120€ each.
