Nice one, Hikmet Sugoer! As we all know, Sugoer’s sneakers line is just undeniably awesome. For those of you who don’t know him yet, he was the founder of Solebox back in 2002 and later sold the company to Snipes. He continued to work there as an employee at first and after a short time later, he resigned due to differences of opinion.
Every sneakerhead should have already heard of the name SONRA by now. In 2016, Hikmet Sugoer promoted his own brand extensively throughout the sneakerworld. For his next collab, SONRA teams up with the luxury retailer Budapest and the shipping company DHL to present to us a strictly limited edition Proto DHL-1 pair.
In celebration of DHL’s 50th anniversary, 300 pairs have been produced, with the partners using scraps of the DHL Boeing 757 aircraft parts as well as recycled DHL bags.
This new pair is dominated by a red and yellow colourway reminiscent of DHL’s colors. On the outer portion, a black DHL logo appears on the premium suede material, Budapest’s logo on the tongue, and SONRA’s logo along the white midsole. An aviation-inspired hang tag that indicates the number of each pair can also be found on the side. To top off the overall look, the toe box is made with the same material as the transport bags of DHL Express.
