In 2022, several sporting goods manufacturers are celebrating an anniversary. For Vans, it's the legendary Skate Half Cab, which turns an incredible 30 years old this year. The skate brand released the mid-top sneaker in 1992, and today, it is one of the most successful models. The story behind this silhouette is also very exciting.

The Vans Skate Half Cab is a mid-sneaker of Steve Caballero's 1989 pro shoe, but before the Half Cab was released, skateboarders cut away the collar of Caballero's shoe (the original variant being the "Vans Full Cab") and taped the exposed seam to achieve the desired fit.

Vans is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Skate Half Cab '92 with a full year of special releases. Two colourways have already been released. At the online shop, you can find the Vans Skate Half Cab "Dress Blues" and "Taupe". Other changes include the separation of the toe cap and ollie patches to give the sneaker a modern look. Lastly, Duracap rubber underlays and comfortable PopCush insoles complete the Vans Skate Half Cab.
